The mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, carried out in the early hours of this Wednesday the implementation of the Management Bodies for Comprehensive Defense (Oddi), within the framework of Operation Independence 200, in compliance with what was established by the head of State, Nicolás Maduro, in defense and protection of the nation so that peace always prevails.
These territorial actions that are activated today in Caracas respond to the 27 tasks that were announced by the president.
“In Caracas we are going to work on territorial actions in this deployment that we will do to preserve the forces and means of our Bolivarian National Armed Force (Fanb),” said Meléndez during the deployment that began with a mobilization from the 23 de Enero parish.

Operations to maintain public order
Meléndez explained that operations will be implemented to maintain public order in the capital, through coordination with the efforts of citizen security bodies, Civil Protection (PC), Caracas Firefighters and various police forces.
“Strategic facilities will be protected, such as electricity, pumping stations, gas filling stations and everything related to hydrological, drinking water and telecommunications,” he said.
In another important point, he emphasized that the deployment will cover critical areas such as health, including hospital networks, as well as the transportation and distribution of medicines and food.
“Also in the popular markets we will be doing exercises to guarantee the full development of the population,” he assured.
He concluded that the security forces will remain active in their respective areas to protect all public entities in the capital.
