The Brazilian coach, Carlos Eduardo Patetuciannounced this Tuesday the list of 21 summoned for the U-17 World Cup in Qatar which will be played in November. One name stands out on this list: Dell (17), scorer of the Bay and known as the ‘Haaland of the Sertão’.
The list also includes São Paulo winger Angelo Henrique and Gremio forward Gabriel Mec, two of the three Brazilians included on Monday by the British newspaper The Guardian in its Next Generation 2025, with the names of the greatest promises in world football born since 2008.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) reported in a statement that those summoned for the World Cup, which will be played between November 3 and 27 in Qatar, will gather starting next Monday at Granja Comary, the Canarinha training center in the city of Teresópolis.
Brazil has been drawn in Group H alongside Honduras, Indonesia and Zambia. They will make their debut on November 4 against Honduras, three days later they will face Indonesia and on the 10th against Zambia. The best two in each group will advance to the round of 16.
Brazil qualified for the World Cup in Qatar as champion of the South American U-17 last April in Colombia, which allowed it to add 14 titles in 20 editions of the tournament.
Dell, one of the Brazilian players who won the South American title, is one of the greatest promises and is already known as the ‘Haaland of the Sertão’. He earned the nickname due to the scoring nose that is reminiscent of that of the Norwegian attacker Erling Haaland, the Manchester City star, whom he cites as one of his idols.
