The Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFP (SBS) approved the standard for the prevention of money laundering and the financing of terrorism (LA/FT), applicable to legal entities that operate remote games and/or remote sports betting under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).
Prior to this publication, the SBS collected comments from citizens and unions on the regulatory text, which worked in coordination with the Mincetur, to establish the requirements, obligations, procedures and guidelines that these obligated entities must comply with to prevent ML/TF, considering international standards and best practices against these crimes.
The regulatory framework regulates the components of the ML/TF prevention system, such as the application of due diligence in knowing the client, directors, workers and suppliers; training on ML/TF prevention; the prevention manual and code; the compliance officer (corporate and alternate, if applicable), the operations record, the annual report of the compliance officer, among other aspects.
The rule establishes a period of 120 days for these regulated entities to implement or adapt their ML/TF prevention systems.
