The Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha, visited the Tiantan smart university hospital, located in Beijing, China, where he is on an official visit.
THE smart hospital is characterized by monitoring and offering assistance to the patient after hospitalization or consultationusing advanced technologies.
“The patient returns home, the hospital records all his information, the doctors discuss the cases and he waits for the appointment. This reduces expenses and improves the quality of care”, said the minister, according to a statement from the ministry.
In Brazil, the Technological Institute of Intelligent Medicine (ITMI-Brazil) has a project to install a unit in São Pauloexpected to open from the end of 2027. The expectation is that the first smart public hospital in Brazil will offer 800 beds for emergency cases for adults and children in the areas of neurology, neurosurgery, cardiology, intensive care and other emergencies.
“The smart hospital will allow integration with the care network at all stages – from primary care or urgent and emergency services to high complexity -, guaranteeing faster, more effective and humane care. It is technology at the service of the SUS, from the doctor to the patient, from professional training to assistance”, informed Padilha.
The government requested financing from the Brics Development Bank to build the hospital similar to models in China and India. The institution must return the request by the end of this year.
