Moments of panic were experienced by the passengers of an interprovincial bus after a violent collision with a cargo truck on the Central Highway, near the Santa Ana sector, in the district of Perené, province of Chanchamayo. The accident occurred around 12:40 a.m. this Tuesday.

According to the first reports, a bus from the Barreto company, plate VBF-959, collided head-on with a truck transporting avocados when both vehicles were traveling through a sharp curve. The strong blow caused severe material damage, but there were no fatalities.
Witnesses indicated that the bus driver made a desperate maneuver, turning the steering wheel towards the hill to avoid a greater tragedy. The vehicle ended up embedded in the hillside, which prevented it from overturning completely.

Agents from the National Police and the Perené Police Station arrived at the scene, who controlled traffic and carried out the corresponding procedures to determine the causes of the accident.
Among the passengers was former regional councilor José Villazana, who was unharmed. This new accident once again highlights the danger of the Central Highway, especially in the sections of the Central Jungle where curves and fog make visibility difficult.
