The Ministry of Health is promoting next Saturday (18) the D-Day of national mobilization for vaccination. A tradition of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), the event celebrates health and citizenship, offering free vaccines for children and adults, in addition to cultural activities, scientific dissemination actions and health promotion initiatives. This year’s slogan is Vaccine is life.
The event is part of the celebrations of the institution’s 125th anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to science and life.
“At Fiocruz, we produce vaccines, we believe in vaccines and we celebrate vaccines. We have been working for people’s health and lives for 125 years”, reinforces the president of the Foundation, Mario Moreira.
In Rio de Janeiro, the Fiocruz for You 2025 will take place on the Manguinhos campus, from 8am to 5pm, with free entry and free classification. Vaccines will be offered to different age groups. Guardians must take the child and adolescent’s vaccination record. Children aged 2 months to 4 years, 11 months and 29 days will be able to receive the Inactivated Poliomyelitis (VIP), Pentavalent and Pneumococcal 10 vaccines. Adults will also be able to present an official document with a photo to be immunized against covid-19 and influenza.
In addition to immunization, the public will find a program full of cultural attractions, leisure spaces and interactive workshops, aimed at scientific dissemination and health promotion.
“If you live in Rio, come celebrate with us. Especially, if you live in the surrounding area, nearby, you are our special guest. It’s a day of vaccination, culture, games, fun, but also a lot of awareness”, invites Mario Moreira.
The program will be broad and diverse, with activities for all ages — children, young people, adults and the elderly. There will be activities from north to south of the country, in the cities of Manaus, Porto Velho, Brasília, Eusébio (CE), Teresina, Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Ribeirão Preto (SP) and Curitiba, which host Fiocruz units.
Created in 1994, Fiocruz pra Você was born as an action to promote citizenship and combat violence in communities close to the foundation. Since then, the event has consolidated itself as an annual milestone of integration between science and society, reaffirming the institution’s values: promoting health, social development and scientific knowledge at the service of life.
