Brazilian Mariana D’Andrea secured Brazil’s first medal in the Paralympic Weightlifting World Championship being held in Cairo (Egypt). With a weight of 141 kilos, the São Paulo native took silver in the up to 73 kilos category this Monday (13).

The gold medal in this contest went to China’s Tan Yujiao, who lifted 146 kilos, while Nigeria’s Ani Chiamaka secured the bronze, with a weight of 140 kilos.
“I leave here with a clear conscience. I gave my best. We really wanted this gold medal, we trained a lot for it. But now this serves as motivation for me to train even harder from now on”, declared Mariana D’Andrea.
