Spectacular closing

During Rio Branco Week, The Illustrious Citizen was delivered to Basilio Morales

The weather conditions, which even led to the suspension of activities on Saturday night, were no obstacle for the 4th Rio Branco Week to have a spectacular close.

The public’s response to the closing this Sunday afternoon surprised even the organizers.

In this context of celebration, the Illustrious Citizen award was presented, which on this occasion went to a very important figure, in various areas, for the city of Río Branco.

“As for Basilio –Morales- a person who really has a very low profile, with a very strong temperament, aspects with which I feel very identified, has really done a lot for children, for mothers and for society, always from anonymity. I am very happy as Mayor, on behalf of my fellow Councilors and municipal members, but I am sure on behalf of the entire city that you have received this Illustrious Citizen award because you really deserve it.” said Federico Lopez.

“This is deserved as a person, as an athlete, as a journalist, as a politician, but fundamentally as a citizen of Rio Branco. The tributes to the people who contribute their grain of sand, we have to let them know. I really congratulate you, we hope you enjoy it with your family. It is a pleasure for me to give you that medal Basilio” remarked the Mayor of the Municipality of Río Branco.

“Against the inclement weather we can’t do anything, it was a complex weekend in terms of decisions. We were in doubt if people were really going to accompany us and wow, people from Rio Branco, Melo and Yaguarón came” stood out.

“We make Rio Branco Week for you, thinking of you” he stressed. “As the slogan says, we do it together, but it is for the people” he added.

“We had to be responsible and make the decision to postpone Saturday night to Sunday afternoon due to rain and storm announcements. People understood and came to support today” he thanked.

López also thanked the musicians who accepted the change of day, a gratitude that he also extended to the Municipality’s communications team and municipal officials in general, and to those in charge of amplification who had other commitments previously acquired.

“Circumstances sometimes force us, we had never thought of doing a Rio Branco Week with a show of this magnitude, on a Sunday afternoon. Something that we are going to think about because perhaps next year we can do a performance on Sunday as a closing ceremony early in the afternoon because everyone works the next day.” said the Mayor.

“I love you so much, distance calls me, that’s why if I walk away, you’ll forgive me.” said Basilio Morales minutes after being awarded the medal to the Illustrious Citizen of Rio Branco amidst the applause of those present.

“The recognition to Basilio Morales and the special recognition to all the people who have made a great Week” highlighted the Mayor of Cerro Largo.

“A Week that this time had two stages through which many artists have passed. Enjoy this to the last” manifested Christian Morel.
