The Attorney General’s Office (FGR), through the Specialized Regional Control Prosecutor’s Office in Tamaulipas, destroyed 23 trucks with artisanal armor, the so-called monstersin compliance with the Destination of Assets and Objects of Crime program.
The agency reported that the vehicles were related to 21 investigation files and were seized in various actions in said entity, coordinated by the security cabinet of the government of Mexico through the Secretariat of National Defense, in collaboration with the State Guard and that they were used by members of criminal groups.
The dismantling was attended by the Federal Public Ministry, which coordinated the identification and carried out the procedures, as well as official experts and personnel from the Internal Control Body of the FGR, to verify that the procedure was carried out in the terms of the applicable standard.
The monsters They are modified trucks to which they add steel plates up to two centimeters thick, mounted machine guns and the ability to resist high-caliber impacts; and that are used in illicit activities of the cartels against security forces and their rivals.
In Tamaulipas, these vehicles have been used in ambushes against military convoys, such as those registered in Reynosa and Nuevo Laredo in 2024, in confrontations with the Army.
