Walter Ortiz highlights China and Russia's support for Venezuela in front of the Security Council

As part of the recent session of the United Nations Security Council, the position set by the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela received the support of two world powers: the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation. Both nations expressed their support for Venezuela and rejected aggression by the United States (USA) in the Caribbean.

During his intervention on the “Al Día” program, political scientist Walter Ortiz positively valued the participation of the Venezuelan Representative to the UN, Samuel Moncada, describing it as “very accurate, precise in all his presentation.”

Ortiz celebrated the international support received: “We welcome the position of China and Russia to support the Venezuelan position, and even welcome some expressions from some representatives who, despite being enemies of Venezuela from a political point of view, did not side with the United States, because they know that peace in the region is something that is far above the political-ideological position.”

In relation to the requests presented by Venezuela to the UN, Ortiz highlighted Russia’s role as pro tempore presidency of the Security Council: “Evidently the pro tempore presidency of that body, which is held by the Russian Federation, can do a lot based on this desire for peace because Venezuela’s message is one of defense and the right to peace. (…) We must expect diplomacy to do its job, it seemed that it could be possible because the countries did not stand up “Together with the US, the violation of the Treaty of Tlatelolco and the violation of the CELAC agreement that determined that Latin America is a zone of peace even came to light, if not the sea convention that all UN countries sign, which have been violated with the actions in the Caribbean Sea.”

The analyst also made reference to the country’s historical resilience, “Venezuela as a nation has gone through many difficult and complicated stages in which they have moved forward with firmness and strength.”

Regarding the current panorama, Ortiz warned that “Venezuela is in a phase where any scenario can happen but they are assisted by the truth and the preparation to defend the country.”

In that sense, he highlighted the strengthening of the national spirit that “is amalgamating that will to defend the country that advances in a defined, recurring and calm manner, with a leadership led by the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro Moros.”

At the international level, Ortiz pointed out that “there is a struggle in that hegemon that seeks to steal Venezuela’s resources through aggression, a struggle between Trump and globalist factors.”

Finally, he referred to Hillary Clinton’s recent statements, and indicated that “if he were not in a real fight against Trump, he would not even dare to say what he said because he is making a warning that, according to his vision, leads nowhere.”

This position reaffirms Venezuela’s commitment to regional peace and the defense of its sovereignty against external threats.
