The Maduro administration announced the closure of its embassy in the Kingdom of Norway, three days after the Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to opposition leader María Corina Machado.
In a statement published on Foreign Minister Yván Gil’s Telegram channel, a “comprehensive restructuring” of the Foreign Service was argued with the purpose of “optimizing the resources of the States.”
The announced restructuring, which also includes the closure of the embassy in Australia, coincides with the recognition given on Friday, October 10, to Machado, to which the Maduro administration has not made any mention.
