Nicolás Maduro assured that the United States will not be able to deal with “the people of the candle-eaters” in the event of a possible military aggression against Venezuela
Nicolás Maduro affirmed that “the order is given” for State forces to exercise “sovereignty” and defend “the right to life” in the face of a possible attack by the United States.
«Let the imperialists know: we are the people of the candle-eaters and they will never be able to defeat us, neither by hook nor by crook. Colonialist imperialism will never be able to defeat the people of the candle-eaters. We are the heirs of this Caribbean warrior lineage, indomitable, indestructible.
Chavismo held a march in “defense of peace and sovereignty” to commemorate Resistance Day. In activity, Maduro called for deepening and accelerating expansion of the Indigenous Bolivarian Militia in all territories of the country.
Likewise, he proposed the formation of “internationalist militia brigades of the indigenous peoples of our South America to come and defend Venezuela if necessary.”
The same story will not be repeated
Earlier, the Minister of Indigenous Peoples, Clara Vidal, warned that today, 533 years after the arrival of “the Pinta, the Niña and the Santa María”, there are “other ships in the Caribbean Sea, but with missiles”, in reference to the military deployment that the US maintains in waters near Venezuela, under the argument of combating alleged drug trafficking from the South American nation, while Caracas denounces that it is a “threat” to promote a “regime change.”
However, the official asserted that, although Venezuela “continues to be besieged by the North American empire and its allies,” “the same history” will not be repeated.
The Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, assured in a statement that “the battle that Venezuela is waging at this moment” is the same as 500 years ago: the defense of the right to self-determination, the certain possibility of defining one’s own destiny, peace, equality, social justice and respect for ethnic and cultural diversity.
