The province of Holguín is ready to receive the 2025 edition of the Iberoarte International Crafts Fair, an event that promises to bring together nearly a hundred creators, including international guests from Peru and Mexico.
From October 16 to November 1, the city will be the epicenter of a celebration that combines tradition, innovation and community commitment, and is part of the activities of the Ibero-American Culture Festival, which has been celebrated for more than two decades at the end of the month of October in the capital of Holguín.
The activities will take place at the ExpoHolguín fairgrounds from 10 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon, although it also aims to reach out to the communities and make donations to grandparents’ and children’s homes without filial protection.
A tradition with deep roots
Craft fairs in Holguín have a long history that goes back decades, consolidating themselves as an essential space for the promotion of local culture and international exchange. Iberoarte, in particular, has managed to transcend borders, becoming a reference for artists and artisans throughout the Ibero-American community.
Carmen Hernández, deputy commercial director of the Holguín branch of the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets (FCBC), highlighted during a press conference that “this event not only promotes creative expressions, but also maintains its community character by extending to areas of the capital city and the municipalities of Gibara and Moa.”
Tributes and special celebrations
The 2025 edition of Iberoarte will be dedicated to seven outstanding Cuban artists: Julia Borrego, Maurice Fonseca, María del Carmen Aguilera, Elena Pozo, Jorge Luis Betancourt, Lauro Echavarría and Julio Méndez.
This tribute recognizes their career as teachers of Cuban culture and their contribution to the development of the arts in the country.
Exhibition and showroom Lot
One of the highlights of Iberoarte 2025 will be the exhibition of textiles, jewelry and goldsmithing items, among other artisanal manifestations.
Carmen Hernández explained that “part of the results obtained, along with donations, will be allocated to the homes of grandparents and children without family protection,” reinforcing the social commitment of the event.
As part of the fair, the Lote Hall will be held again, a flagship space for the visual arts that, for the first time, will have a competitive nature.
Danilo Garcés, member of the organizing committee and person in charge of the space, announced that “the edition of the show will revolve around the work of Blanca Chacón Rodríguez and popular art.”
Garcés also reported that around 30 creators representing various techniques will participate, and that the prize will consist of the acquisition of the winning piece for the value determined by the author, with the aim of promoting institutional collecting.
The Iberoarte International Crafts Fair grants recognition to participating artists, including the Award for Best Manifestation and the Award for Best Stand.
