Unfortunately, one of the victims, identified as María Alejandra García Mora36 years old, died minutes after being admitted to the healthcare center due to the severity of her injuries. García Mora, who had a condition of dwarfism, was enjoying the event when the tragic accident occurred.
Authorities reported that another vehicle involved in the parade also presented a similar incident, although in this case only minor bruises and lacerations were reported among those affected.
The Girardot Municipal Mayor’s Office and the Organization of the National Reign of Tourism confirmed through a statement that the accident tractor did not have official authorization or accreditation to participate in the parade.
«The tractor was not created nor authorized to participate in the parade. “It was not part of the logistical or official route or the security device of the event,” the statement reads.
The municipal administration also requested the collaboration of those responsible for the vehicle to deliver the necessary information to clarify the causes of the accident, in coordination with the competent authorities.
The statement closes by expressing a deep regret for what happened and reiterating the call to the community to enjoy the festivities responsiblyabiding by safety regulations and avoiding actions that put people’s lives and integrity at risk.
The authorities continue investigations to determine responsibilities and strengthen controls in future public events in the municipality.
