During the meeting, Fernández Onofre highlighted the strategic importance and socioeconomic of the operations of Codeviboth for the Dominican Republic and for Haiti, for the generation of thousands of direct and indirect jobs, the promotion of border stability and its contribution to binational development.
Mechanisms of cooperation between the Armed forces and specialized units, in order to strengthen the perimeter security and guarantee a stable environment that allows the continuity of industrial activities in the area.

The minister reiterated that the Armed forces maintain a firm commitment to peacehe social development and national economic progress, in accordance with the objectives of the Institutional Strategic Plan that seeks to integrate defense with development.
As part of your agenda in DajabónFernández Onofre supervised the progress of the second stage of construction of the border perimeter fencea emblematic project of the Government that reinforces territorial control and national security, in addition to facilitating orderly trade and cooperation cross-border.
Accompanying the minister were the director of the Specialized Corps for Land Border Security (Cesfront), the director of Plans and Operations of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of MIDE (J3) and the general supervisor of construction works, along with others senior officers.
