Cabello affirms that the weapons "are held by the people" in the face of "threats" from the US

This Saturday, the Maduro administration launched the Independence Plan 200 in the states of Monagas, Anzoátegui and Bolívar.

The Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, assured this Saturday, October 11, that the weapons “are held by the people”, in view of the “threats” from the United States, which maintains a military deployment in the waters of the Caribbean Sea near Venezuela.

In a broadcast on Venezolana de Televisión, Cabello expressed that, although the State has “the monopoly of the country’s weapons,” these are currently “held by the people of Venezuela, the legitimate guarantor of national sovereignty and independence,” as part, he explained, of the “deployment and preparation” actions of recent weeks.

«The world must know that, no matter how many threats, no matter what happens, no matter what happens, we will win. Long live the country! (…) Here they are, simple men and women, men and women with their rifle on their shoulders, with their rifle on their chest, to defend the country, with their shotgun, with their knife, with their spear,” he added.

Cabello made these statements in the state of Monagas, where this Saturday, as well as in Anzoátegui and Bolívar, the defense plan called ‘Independence 200’ was launched, in order to continue with the preparation of the people, the police forces and the National Armed Forces (FAN) to “face the different threats that loom over the homeland,” according to the minister.

The official called for “active and prolonged resistance”, as well as to be “on a permanent offensive”, because, he warned, the “imperialist enemy has decided to direct all its weapons against the homeland.”

Through Telegram, Nicolás Maduro also reported the activation of the plan in Anzoátegui, Monagas and Bolívar, a part of the territory that he described as “a vital corridor of the country that goes from the Caribbean Sea to the Orinoco (river) and to the south of the border with Brazil.”

He assured that the so-called Comprehensive Defense Operational Zones (ZODI) will be activated “day by day” and “state by state” for the development of ‘Independencia 200’, as has been done since Wednesday in the coastal regions of Carabobo, La Guaira, Aragua, Falcón and Zulia, the latter bordering Colombia.

Anzoátegui and Monagas also have access to the Caribbean, while Bolívar, in the south, borders Brazil.
