The president José Jerí has spent the last 42 hours of his mandate started after the vacancy of Dina Boluarte without a prime minister. It should be noted that article 120 of the Political Constitution of Peru establishes that “acts of the President of the Republic that lack ministerial endorsement are void.” This means that many of the president’s official acts, including decrees and administrative decisions, They cannot be valid without the signature of the ministers. In other words, as long as Jerí does not appoint his prime minister or ministers, many of his executive decisions have no legal effect.
So far, the president has not commented on the delays or given clues about who could be chosen to fill key cabinet positions. The complaints against José Jerí
At the beginning of 2025, José Jerí Oré was denounced for alleged sexual violation. Although the prosecution filed the case in August of that year due to lack of evidence, another investigation was initiated for not attending the anger control therapies ordered by the judge. In addition, he faces a third investigation for alleged illicit enrichment, since his assets increased from 90,000 soles in 2021 to more than one million in 2024, disagreeing with his salary.
During his tenure as president of the Congressional Budget Committeeo (2023-2024), businesswoman Blanca Ríos reported that she gave a bribe of 150,000 soles to her entourage so that a project in Cajamarca was included in the budget of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
