Francisco Javier García plantea congelar tarifa eléctrica como respuesta a la crisis energética

Santo Domingo.– The presidential candidate for Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Francisco Javier Garcíaurged the Government to freeze the electricity rate as an urgent measure to mitigate the economic impact suffered by Dominican households due to the crisis of the national energy system.

The political leader pointed out that the population cannot continue assuming increasingly high billswhile the prolonged blackouts in different areas of the country.

“The most responsible thing would be for the Government to maintain rates at the same level as nine months ago, until the problem of blackouts is resolved,” García stated.

According to the PLD member, the lack of stability in the electricity supply has caused discomfort and worry among citizens, affecting both families and small businesses that face losses due to the lack of constant energy.

Given the growing tension, in the National Congress one is studied resolution that seeks to question the president of the Unified Council of Electricity Distribution Companies (CUED), Celso Marranziniwith the aim of explaining the causes of the crisis and the measures that are being taken to confront it.

The initiative is evaluated by a special commission headed by deputy Ramón Buenowhich in the coming days will summon the official to offer details about the situation and possible solutions.

Francisco Javier García reiterated that the population needs concrete responses and immediate actionsnot just promises, in the face of a problem that “has already become an unsustainable burden for thousands of Dominicans.”
