The president José Jerí received at the Government Palace the president of the Judiciary, Janet Tello Gilardi, and the acting prosecutor of the Nation, Tomás Gálvez, in a meeting aimed at institutional coordination in matters of security and justice after the recent presidential inauguration.
The meeting took place a few hours after Jerí’s swearing-in and was presented as a first step to articulate actions between the Executive, the Judiciary and the Public Ministry in the face of the political crisis situation and the security agenda announced by the new president.
The third vice president of Congress, Ilich López, also arrived at the Government Palace, representing this power of the State.
“WAR AGAINST CRIME”
As is known, in his inauguration speech, Jerí proposed declaring the “war against crime” and requested the joint commitment of the Police, the Armed Forces, the Judiciary and the Prosecutor’s Office to confront crime; The meeting with Tello and Gálvez is part of that call for coordination.
So far, no official documents detailing formal agreements derived from the meeting have been released. It would be a first “constructive” meeting to promote urgent coordination mechanisms between institutions in the face of the perception of increased insecurity and the need for rapid responses.
