Strengthened presence

Achievements and actions of the police in Rio Branco

The Third Section strengthened its presence in the commercial area and neighborhoods of the city, consolidating results in security and institutional coordination

The Cerro Largo Police Headquarters reported on the recent achievements and actions developed by the Third Section, which makes up Zone II of the department and also has the support of the Scientific Police unit and a Tactical Response Group (GRT).

In recent months there has been a notable increase in preventive patrolling both in the commercial area and in the neighborhoods of Río Branco, with the aim of reinforcing the police presence and providing greater security to residents and merchants.

COORDINATION FOR SPORTS EVENTS AND BORDER CONTROLS

One of the areas in which the Headquarters has paid special attention is the security of sporting events. In this sense, from the Third Section, various integrated procedures have been carried out with partialities of football clubs, both national and international, in coordination with the National Immigration Directorate (DNM).

These operations have made it possible to ensure the orderly and safe exit and return of fans who cross the border into Brazil or return to the country within the framework of football competitions, reinforcing controls and peaceful coexistence.

RECORD OF FORMALIZATIONS AND LOWER CRIME RATES

The sustained work in the territory has given concrete results: the area has reached record numbers of judicial formalizations compared to previous years, and presents a notable decrease in crime rates.

According to the Headquarters, this achievement reflects the commitment of the police teams, the efficiency of the investigations and the permanent collaboration with the Prosecutor’s Office and the Judiciary.

IMPROVEMENT IN INFRASTRUCTURE AND LOGISTICAL SUPPORT

In terms of infrastructure, the Third Section completed the creation of an interrogation room and a meeting office in the investigative area, which allows optimizing the work of internal coordination and attention to victims and witnesses.

Likewise, an integrated accommodation area was implemented to receive members of other police units who arrive in operational support from different parts of the country.

The unit also reported that in recent months various national extraditions were coordinated, complying with court orders and guaranteeing due process in each case.

COMMUNITY POLICE: CLOSER TO THE PEOPLE

Another notable advance is the formation of a Community Police team in the town of Río Branco, which works closely with the community and in coordination with the Community Police team of the departmental capital, Melo.

This modality, focused on prevention and citizen outreach, has allowed us to strengthen ties of trust with neighbors, educational institutions, neighborhood organizations and social leaders.

Through workshops, talks and joint activities, the Police seeks to encourage citizen participation in security issues, promote responsible reporting and consolidate a work model based on dialogue and cooperation.

COMMITMENT TO CITIZEN SECURITY

“These achievements are the result of teamwork, the commitment of our officials and the permanent support of the community,” the police department stated in its statement.

The institution reiterated that it will continue to deepen prevention, control and investigation actions, with the purpose of maintaining the good results achieved and continuing to improve the quality of police service on the border.
