The former president Martin Vizcarra questioned the appointment of José Jerí as the new president of the Republic, after Congress approve the vacancy of Dina Boluarte. “The mafia pact does not understand the feelings of Peruvians, it clings to power. They impose José Jerí as president by the force of their votes. Jerí, he does not represent us! The consequences that are generated will be the absolute responsibility of this illegitimate Congress,” he expressed Vizcarra.

It seems that the former head of state forgot that José Jerí was his accessory in Congress for the period 2021–2026. Vizcarra had been elected by Lima with Somos Perú, but he was disqualified and his seat was occupied by Jeri.
