The National School of Road Education (Enevial)dependence of the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant), trains monthly around 5,000 driversas part of its mission to reduce road accidents.
The information was offered by the director of the entity, Maximiliana Manzuetawho revealed that the private sector companies are the ones that use the services of the school the most, founded ago 18 years. It is in Enevial where all bus drivers are trained National School Mobility System (TRAE).
The school does not teach drivers to technically drive a car, SUV, truck or any other vehicle, but the education is based on what they call the “soft skills”which are the personal capabilities of each driver.
Some of these capabilities are responsible decision makinghow to respect traffic lights, the zebra crossing, having control of emotions —which would prevent violence between drivers—, give way, apologize, reduce speed, and think about the personal and collective consequences of irresponsible behavior, among others.
“Citizens must be educated to drive correctly and respect traffic signs. transitbecause that implies that you will have much less likely of suffering any accident. In almost all the road accidents that we see on public roads, the human component by more than 96%”, Manzueta said.
Traffic Guardians
The official believes that driver education has long-term effects, but insists that it must be addressed since childhoodteaching them to respect the signs of transit already know the Law 63-17 of Transit and Mobility, in order to change the current reality of road accidents, which leave thousands of deaths and injuries every year.
That’s why he Intrantthrough Enevialdevelops the program “Guardians of Traffic”a project with students, who are taught about driver’s education from the classrooms. Results have already been seen in its application, as in the Ozama Psychopedagogical Centerthe first scenario where the plan was implemented.
Enevial not only trains drivers with a qualified technical personnel and knowledge replicator, but is also the entity to turn to when a vehicle is audited and retained by authority.

“We train not only those who come here because they received a ticket and have to take a re-education talk, as is the case with violators. When Digesett detains a vehicle and issues a violation, to return it, the driver must come to the school, take a 45-minute training, and then they are issued a certification. With that certification their vehicle is returned.”
The school operates from monday to friday in its main building, located next to the station Mama Tingó of the Santo Domingo Metro and, in addition, offers training in different provinces of the country.
