He acknowledged that, for the moment, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine “is not affecting the increase in meat prices, although if the military confrontation continues, it could push upwards.”

For his part, Minister Mattos stated that beef is highly driven by international market values, and furthermore, substitution alternatives in the region are scarce, because prices have generally risen due to international demand for grains. , since poultry and pork use corn, which is also being affected by the crisis in Ukraine.
He added that Paraguay had a concentrated export destination of 40% of its exportable production to Russia, therefore trade was affected by the war with Ukraine.
“That market has been altered, there have been significant declines in livestock. There may be a window for us to have a supply in the region of cheaper meat in order to moderate the price increases of recent weeks. Paraguay is reliable from the point of view of health and different cuts have already come from that country.
