He Ministry of IndustryCommerce and Mipymes (MICM) reported this Thursday that it was invited by the Senate of Brazil to share their experience in the fight against the illicit trade of adulterated alcoholrecognized at the regional level for its effectiveness, inter-institutional coordination and sustainable results.
The session, which will be held this week in Brasilia, will address the creation of a national system traceability of alcoholic beverages in light of the recent cases of methanol poisoning in Brazilindicates a press release from the entity.
The vice minister of Internal Trade, Ramón Pérez Fermín, will participate on behalf of the country, who will present the achievements achieved by the Dominican Republic under the leadership of the Minister of Industry and Commerce Víctor (Ito) Bisonó and the support of President Luis Abinader.
“The fact that a nation of the size and influence of Brazil invite the MICM to learn about our experience is a recognition of the public policies that we have promoted to protect life, the formal economy and the country’s institutions. We went from a national crisis in 2020 to becoming a regional example of effective action and public-private coordination“said Bisonó.
Fight against illicit trade
The note highlights that the dominican model was consolidated as of 2021, with the creation of the Interinstitutional Table of the Fight against Illicit Trade, the updating of the Law 17-19and the strengthening of the Specialized Body for Fuel Control and Trade of Goods (Ceccom).
He adds that to this was added the joint work with the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic, the Ministry of Public HealthPro Consumidor, the General Directorate of Customs (DGA), the National Police and representatives of the private sector.
