The Congress of the Republic emptied Dina Boluarte of the position of president, invoking as the main argument the cause of moral incapacity permanent. With the dismissal of the president, and in compliance with the article 115 of the Constitutionthe presidential line of succession is activated. Since the positions of first and second vice presidents are vacant, the responsibility of the Head of State immediately falls to the president of Congressthe congressman José Jerí from Somos Perú.
The assumption of Jeri Oré It occurs after a motion of censure was presented against the Board of Directors, however, the necessary votes were not achieved for this request to be approved.

Who is José Jerí?
The management ofJeri OréIt has been marked by a political alignment with the predominant forces in Parliament and various controversies that have motivated tax investigations against it. Regarding his parliamentary work, his vote was in favor of the presidential vacancy against Pedro Castillo in December 2022. Subsequently, he showed marked support for the current Executive, being identified as one of the congressmen who supported the filing of the tax investigations against President Dina Boluarte.
On a personal and criminal level, Jerí’s figure has been the subject of serious investigations. In January 2025, the Supreme Family Prosecutor’s Office began preliminary proceedings against him for the alleged commission of the crime of sexual rapealong with another man, after a report of events that occurred in December 2024 at a social gathering. Although the congressman categorically rejected the accusations, he expressed his willingness to collaborate and his political party, Somos Perú, announced the suspension of his militancy while the investigation lasted. In August 2025, the Supreme Family Prosecutor’s Office ordered the investigation to be archived against him.

After assuming the Presidency of the Republic, the Somos Perú activist assured that he will declare war on crime. Likewise, he referred to ‘Generation Z’ and indicated that he will “show them that there will be changes in the country.”
