Velasco Álvarez has a master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago, where he was editor-in-chief of Chicago Policy Review and spent a stay in the office of the mayor of that city, according to his resume.
He has a degree in Law from the Iberoamerican University of Mexico City.
He has held positions in the Ministry of Economy, in the Government of Mexico City and also in the Legislative Assembly of the former Federal District.
Between December 2018 and June 2020, he served as general director of Social Communication of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He is currently head of the North American Unit.
