This is what the fifth edition of the study shows “Situation of the Fashion Industry in the Dominican Republic 2025“, presented by the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (ProDominicana) within the framework of the RD Fashion Week.
More than 470 Dominican companies placed their products in 80 international marketswith the United States, Haiti, Netherlands, United Kingdom and Belgium being the main destinations.
According to the study, between 2016 and 2024, the value of world trade of goods fashion went from 1.30 billion to 1.78 billion dollars, showing resilience in the face of crises and adapting to new trends such as fashion circular and digitization.
The study, presented by Carolina Pérez, director of the Market Intelligence Department of ProDominicanahighlights the importance of technical training as a pillar of competitiveness.
In 2024, the National Institute of Vocational Technical Training (Infotep) trained more than 8,500 people in areas linked to the fashion and clothing, of which 73% They were women, consolidating the female role in the industry and strengthening the base of specialized labor.
