Since last September 2, when the first attack was carried out, at least six boats have been destroyed in the Caribbean with a death toll of approximately 21 people.
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, stated this Thursday that the “drug boats” attacked in Caribbean waters near Venezuela were “like a subway car loaded with drugs” and that each shipment could have killed 25,000 Americans.
«Drugs are no longer entering through water. In fact, we can’t even find ships in the water anymore,” Trump said at a cabinet meeting.
The president declared that each of the vessels like those that have been intercepted can kill “25,000 Americans” with the drugs they were carrying, despite the fact that the Pentagon has not revealed details nor has it organized press conferences to explain the details of those shipments and the unprecedented attacks.
“We have launched a historic campaign to take back our nation from gangs and street criminals, violent repeat offenders, law-breaking illegal immigrants, domestic extremists, and savage, bloodthirsty cartels,” Trump said.

The Maduro administration has rejected the accusations of the North American government and points out that the drugs that arrive in the United States do not leave through Venezuela.
On September 6, Maduro sent a letter to Donald Trump in which he denies any link with drug trafficking and assures that it is “fake news, spread through various media.”
Likewise, spokespeople for the Maduro administration have indicated that Trump’s interest in the operation deployed in the Caribbean is to promote regime change in Venezuela.
On October 2, Donald Trump declared the United States in a formal “armed conflict” with drug cartels and assured that members of these groups are “illegal combatants” in a communication sent to Congress in which he justifies the attacks on menhaden in the Caribbean.
This Wednesday, Trump received a boost from the Senate. Republicans supported the president’s campaign and rejected the initiative presented by Democrats to block the attacks ordered by the White House in the Caribbean Sea.
