He president of the Peruvian Association of Authors and Composers (Apdayc), Estanis Mogollónregretted the armed attack that occurred during a concert by the Agua Marina cumbia orchestra and harshly questioned the lack of action by the authorities in the face of the growing insecurity that the country is going through.
In dialogue with RPP, the composer rejected any attempt to hold the organizers of the event or the members of the musical group responsible for what happened. “It has been a long time since security has slipped out of the hands of the Government. I see it as wrong, even petty, to try to say that what has happened to the Quiroga Querevalú brothers has been the responsibility of the organizer or of them”said Mogollón.
The president of Apdayc stressed that “This is the responsibility of the relevant authorities who have not taken the appropriate measures from the beginning to stop this wave of crime that is affecting all Peruvians”. He added that this would not be the first attack suffered by Agua Marina, remembering that “This is the third time something similar has happened to them”.
Mogollón warned that not only this group is threatenedbut also other bands of “medium to high popularity”, which have been extorted by criminal organizations. “They are all being extorted, they are all seeing dates. Almost all groups are being affected by this scourge”he emphasized.
Faced with this panorama, he explained that many orchestras have chosen to hire private security for their presentations, although he insisted that the National Police remains primarily responsible for safeguarding the events. ““Every organizer asks for guarantees from the subprefecture or governorate so that the Police come to protect the concerts, but that is not enough to stop crime.”he stated.
The composer also directed a critical message towards President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte. “I don’t know what else has to happen for our president, who sometimes speaks incoherently, to realize what is happening in the country,” he expressed indignantly.
The statements of Mogollon They reflect the concern of the artistic sector regarding the insecurity that continues to affect thousands of Peruvians, in a context where even culture and entertainment have been affected by violence.
