The region Fist It has been characterized by protesting against the visit of political figures to its region. This time, they went against the journalist QHillip Butters, who participated in a radio interview in a local media outlet in Puno and where he had to leave protected by the National Police before the furious Puno citizens who were waiting for him outside the place.
This group of people threw water with urine, stones, bottles, among other objects, at him. They themselves have threatened the mayor of Lima, Rafael López Aliaga, indicating that if the authority visits the region, he will suffer the same type of attacks. Likewise, the leader of Fuerza Popular, Keiko Fujimori, has been declared persona “non grata” by the population.
In this regard, it must be remembered that Puno was one of the regions where former president Pedro Castillo obtained the most votes. According to official information from the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), Castillo obtained support from 89.256% of valid votes.
The total of 645,813 votes for Perú Libre in this region represented a difference of more than half a million votes compared to Fuerza Popular, which obtained only 10,744% of the valid votes.
Of the total of 756,854 votes cast, 95,600% were considered valid and reflected a high effectiveness of the vote in the region. Null and blank votes remained low, with null votes representing 3.938% and blank votes 0.462% of the total cast.
This result in Puno was one of the pillars that supported Peru Libre’s final victory at the national level in the 2021 presidential second round.
