Padrino López says that the US could infiltrate special forces in Venezuela for selective assassinations

The Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, said this Wednesday that the United States could infiltrate special forces into the country to carry out disruptive actions, including selective assassinations, sabotage and attacks on strategic infrastructure, as part of what he described as a possible military aggression against the Chavista regime.

Padrino, during a broadcast on the state channel Venezolana de Televisión, pointed out the scenarios that, he said, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces contemplate in their defense exercises against the US naval deployment in the Caribbean Sea.

“There are many ways for them to attack and disturb us. Not only military aggression from the Caribbean Sea, but also the introduction of special forces to undertake disruptive actions within the national territory. Sabotage of the electrical system, sabotage of the gas system and supply, sabotage of the roads and food distribution, selective assassinations,” the minister said.

“We have to prepare”

Padrino assured that Its objective is not to create alarmism, but rather to “impress realism” in the face of what he described as the “irrationality with which North American imperialism acts.” “As a military leader, I always have to assume the worst hypothesis. I want to alert the population that we have to prepare,” he insisted.

Donald Trump’s administration reinforced its naval deployment in the Caribbean to combat drug trafficking, while the Nicolás Maduro regime says that This is a covert operation to cause political change in Venezuela.

Recently, the official urged the United States “not to make a miscalculation” when considering military action against Venezuela, and warned that the country “will fully exercise its right to defense.”

He also maintained that the “Bolivarian path of dignity and independence” will not be interrupted “by any force in the world.”

The Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs recently denounced a “illegal incursion of US combat aircraft” approximately 75 kilometers from the Venezuelan coast, which they considered part of a “pattern of harassment.”

The regime warned that it will present complaints to the United Nations, the International Civil Aviation Organization and Celac to demand the cessation of Washington’s “warlike stance.”
