For a month now, within the framework of Operation Bolivarian Shield, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Fanb) has maintained the active deployment of Binational Peace Zone number 1.
The reconnaissance, patrolling and scrutinizing missions have been carried out along the 849.7 kilometers of border that the states of Zulia and Táchira share with the Republic of Colombia.
Major General José Gregorio Martínez Campos, commander of this operational zone, and of REDI Los Andes, highlighted the results obtained in perfect popular, military and police fusion, and detailed that “10 logistics camps of organized crime groups were located and destroyed. “More than 700 kilograms of different types of drugs were seized.”
The operation involves the activation of 60 combat Rapid Reaction Units (Urras), through which a significant arsenal was recovered with 77 firearms, 211 hand grenades, 30 antipersonnel mines, 42 kilograms of explosives and 3,900 cartridges of various calibers.
As part of Operation Iron Hand, 29 tons of strategic material, 40 tons of food and 91 telecommunications equipment were seized. In addition, 20 vehicles, 15,500 liters of fuel (gasoline and diesel), and 272 military items of clothing were recovered.
Major General Martínez Campos reiterated that the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is a territory of peace. «Our national territory is impregnable. And here we are in perfect popular, military, and police fusion, consecrating sovereignty and territorial integrity. Venezuela respects itself! We continue in battle and we continue in victory. We will win!
