The president of the Radical Party, Alberto Robles, announced his opinion on the future work that will have to be done between Congress and the new government of President Gabriel Boric, at the instance of the change of command that took place at noon this Friday.
in conversation with The counter, Dr. Robles hopes “that both presidents, both of the Senate and of the Chamber, are capable of weaving this network from the parliament’s point of view, in order to be able to tie up with the ministers and succeed in carrying out President Boric’s program.”
In that sense, he stressed that this alignment “is tremendously important”, since “we are in a very minimal difference in terms of voting with the right, and a lot of dialogue, a lot of conversation, a lot of politics is needed” to be able to carry out the agreements that the president achieves and that these aspects “materialize in votes that allow the structural change that the country needs,” he said.
In the same way, Robles assured that within the new ruling party there will be no major differences, and that in reality, the friction will be with the right.
“I believe that as long as we are focused on the government program there will be no major difference in reaching agreements, the problem that can arise, rather, is with the right, because effectively they have the power of veto in the Senate, where requires closeness,” he said.
And he called for “let’s not forget that the DC (Christian Democracy) is a very important factor, too, to reach agreements, a party that is not in government today, but that we need to make the structural changes that the government requires “.
Therefore, “dialogue is very strongly needed, sharing proposals that are for the benefit of the country and that, obviously, we really hope that the opposition will be an opposition such as I heard on the radio today, that it will be a constructive opposition” , affirmed the president of the PR.
“I understand that there are going to be some parliamentarians, particularly from the republican world, who are going to be a rather obstructive opposition,” he clarified. And for that it will be “important how the president of the Senate, the president of the Chamber, and by the way, the apparatus that will be related to the parliament from the Government” will be important, he concluded.
