Students from the Higher School of Engineering and Architecture, Tecamachalco unit of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), who demonstrated on Monday night in the general direction of this study house, pointed out various “disagreements” within their campus, among them, a school schedule of only four days per week, lack of supplies in the laboratories and non-attendance of teachers.
For this reason, they indicated, they will maintain the work stoppage in their academic unit, which began on August 26, until they receive “concrete” solutions to the request document, with seven central points, presented to campus managers. They specified that although they have held working groups with authorities from their school, “they have not established sufficient agreements.”
Among the demands of their petition is the creation of learning units in the face of “the lack of groups” and saturation of classrooms.
Also a use of the academic day, since the current group assignment system leaves non-working days for both shifts (Fridays for the 2009 plan and Wednesdays for the 2023 plan). They argued that this assignment causes little flexibility in schedules and at the same time encourages saturation of students per classroom.
Likewise, they request to carry out an analysis of the 2023 curriculum to determine which practical learning units require a schedule of 3 continuous hours, instead of one hour and 30 minutes, as it currently works, with the aim of “improving and making the class more effective.”
Yesterday the negotiation tables began with IPN authorities. Meanwhile, the students did not rule out calling for more mobilizations.
