2 Psychiatrists in emergency door will soon add the departmental hospital
In just over 6 months of management, the management team of the public health provider continues to work to give satisfaction to the demand at the level of users for some medical specialties.
In that sense, the incorporation of two specialists in one of the most required areas such as mental health is announced for the next few days.
“We cannot talk about security because in Asse everything has its times. 5 months we have been in the management team and took us all this time to get 2 psychiatrists who begin to work at the emergency door. It is very likely that in the second half of this month they will start working” Dr. Alejandro Py estimated.
“This was our priority from day 1 that we entered” recalled.
“The Board of Trustees that is the part that is responsible for directing the entire psychiatry of the departments throughout Uruguay, does not only imply the work of the specialists within what is the executing unit of the hospital” explained. “Today we have psychiatrists in the hospitalization room that are 2, Drs. Paullier and Escobal, but of the positions they have, high dedication of 20 hours a week, they make the room every day, they make a polyclinic in the hospital of 8 patients and 2 polyclinics in the periphery that the rap handles. To that it is added that in the second half of this month there will be 2 psychiatrists that will start 2 psychiatrists. Different modality that is being raised from Central ASSE, which is not to have a permanent guard, but there will be 2 daily polyclinics, from Sunday to Sunday, in which 4 hours will be attended, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 19 to 23 hours ” He advanced during the live interview of The Daily Professional.
Patients who at some time require a consultation at night will be able to attend in the morning and those who consult in the afternoon will be treated at night. “This modality comes as a result of what has happened with psychiatry in Uruguay” The director of the Departmental Hospital said.
The lack of human resources in the area of psychiatry is not only a long hill but also of Uruguay everything and to a large extent of the world. “This is because health has been running towards mental health due to the world in which we live. That has made few specialists who can bank where health is running” argument.
“The other bottleneck that we met when we assumed management was cardiology” held.
Waiting list was reduced in cardiology
Dr. Py recalled that the current management team took the address with a waiting list of 1500 people. A purification work began immediately because many patients who had already consulted and others who had noted simply to show a parachlinic study were on that payroll. “There are cases that can be resolved by another doctor,” he said.
“Cardiologists come to do studies from Montevideo, they come to do some ergometries and studies with greater complexity. These are specific attention” He pointed out.
Later he commented that with Dr. Pablo Acosta- a sub-director- some weeks ago contacts with a group called Medical Attempts began. “Through them we have many specialties that we are starting to use because they tell us the characteristics of the patients that can value through telemedicine and those that cannot be valued by telemedicine we will depend on the cardiologists we have now in the middle to be able to respond to those consultations,” express.
