The carriers of Panama Oeste, specifically those of the internal routes of La Chorrera and anyone who at the national level increases the cost of the ticket without prior approval of the Land Transit and Transportation Authority (ATTT), run the risk that the entity will cancel the operation certificate.
The ATTT reiterated to the carriers that it has not approved any change in the existing rates of any transport sector or route at present, so any increase in the cost of the ticket is considered illegal.
On internal routes of La Chorrera they increased the fare from this morning, from 0.30 cents to 0.50 cents.
Through a statement, the entity recalled what is established in numeral 5 of article 36 of Law 14 of May 26, 1993, modified by article 9 of Law 42 of October 22, 2007, on the collection of different rates to those established by the Land Traffic and Transportation Authority or without the express authorization issued by it and which establishes as grounds for cancellation of the Certificate of Operation.
In accordance with the ATTT, Decree 542 of October 8, 2003, regulates the setting of public transport rates, and in its article 2, which establishes that it is this entity that will establish and regulate the rates of public passenger transport in its different modalities, through duly reasoned resolutions.
They highlighted that carriers are currently in a national dialogue table with the authorities looking for alternatives that reduce the impact of fuel prices, therefore it is necessary to present all existing proposals and alternatives.
The ATTT reminded the concessionaires that to make modifications or adjustments to the rates, the concessionaires must submit the request to the Land Traffic and Transportation Authority, to submit a technical analysis for the consideration of the Board of Directors and in any case issue the corresponding Administrative Act, as established in article 7 of Decree 542 of October 8, 2003.
