He Special Electoral Jury of Trujillo (JEET) reported that it has been attending to more than 140 cases related to alleged violations of the regulations on state advertising, within the framework of the April 2026 elections.

The electoral entity specified that the majority of infractions correspond to political authorities, public servants and officials.
“To date, violations have been determined ex officio by some heads of municipalities in the region, as well as public companies,” he added.

According to the JEET, the violation of current regulations on state advertising during election periods is basically configured “when public entities or agencies disseminate with public funds and resources the programming, initiation or achievement of activities, works and public policies, among others, with the objective of positioning them in front of citizens, without being justified by reasons of urgent need or public utility.”
Faced with this scenario, the president of JEET Trujillo, Justo Vera Paredes, urged the authorities and public servants “to respect the electoral regulations”, in addition to reiterating “the commitment of the electoral body to continue supervising, with autonomy and firmness, the legality of the exercise of suffrage and the correct conduct of the electoral process.”
It is necessary to highlight that since last September 30, the Special Electoral Jury of Trujillo has only jurisdiction in the constituencies of Trujillo, Moche, Salaverry, Víctor Larco and Virú.
In Huanchaco, Laredo, Simbal, Poroto, El Porvenir, La Esperanza, Florencia de Mora, Alto Trujillo, Otuzco, Julcán, Pacasmayo, Ascope, Chepén and Gran Chimú, the JEE of Pacasmayo is responsible; while in Pataz, Bolívar, Sánchez Carrión and Santiago de Chuco the competent entity is the JEE of Sánchez Carrión.
