The first auction of three public fishing terminals held today (11) at B3 won an award of BRL 1.27 million. The terminals are located in Vitória, Belém and Manaus, and were individually auctioned.
The terminals will be granted for a period of 20 years and the concessionaire will be responsible for exploring, revitalizing, modernizing, operating and maintaining the terminal. The winner of the auction was the one that offered the most advantageous proposal, with the highest grant offer criterion.
The Belém terminal was the first to be traded, and was purchased by Amazonpeixe Aquicultura, the only company to participate in the auction. It offered BRL 140,757.74, which represented a premium of 50.50%.
The Manaus terminal was also bought by Amazonpeixe Aquicultura, the only competitor in the event. The amount offered was R$ 126,991.07, with a premium of 50.50%.
The Vitória terminal had two competitors and the winner was Himalaia Refrigeração e Conservação, which presented a better proposal than Léo Pescados Comércio Atacadista. Himalaya offered BRL 1,003,000, which represented a premium of 100,299,900%
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, more than 59,000 artisanal fishermen may benefit from the concessions. Production can reach more than 54,000 tonnes of fish per year and reduce fish waste by more than 87,500 tonnes in the long term as a result of better handling and production processing conditions.
The auction was supported by the Special Secretariat of the Investment Partnership Program of the Ministry of Economy and was attended by the Minister of the Environment, Joaquim Leite. “The most important number in this auction is private investment. The environment will be transformed by the private initiative, such as that of transforming fishing terminals into new technologies and more productivity”, he said, stressing that the concession of the terminals can also generate alternatives for fishing residues. “What will not be used can be transformed, for example, into biogas, generating energy, and biomethane, generating fuel”.
For the secretary of Aquaculture and Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture, Jorge Seif Júnior, the concession of the terminals can reduce the price of the product for the consumer. “The fish will arrive cheaper at the consumer’s table. When we have infrastructure close to where fishing takes place, naturally operating costs will be reduced, productivity will increase and this impacts production costs and the final price for open markets, markets and gondolas”, he said.
The fishing terminals of Aracaju and Natal and the block formed by the terminals of Santos and Cananéia (SP), scheduled to take place also today, were left for another date yet to be defined by the ministry.
