THE MEC Radio airs new chronicles from the series A Escrita Falada, presented by Ruy Castro, and Contos Mínimos, with Heloisa Seixas. Broadcast from Monday to Friday, at different times throughout the program, the new interprograms feature short texts, with light themes, treated with good humor.
Broadcasting chronicles is a tradition on Rádio MEC. Throughout its history, the public broadcaster has broadcast a series of famous chronicles presented by names such as Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Cecília Meireles and Rubem Braga.
In the new season of Spoken Writing journalist and writer Ruy Castro brings two-minute episodes, including “By an inch“, “My April 25th carnation“, “Left in the past“, “Forbidden not to be perfect” and “Author of the leaflet“. Already in Minimal Talesjournalist, writer and translator Heloisa Seixas presents one-minute chronicles that, as she describes in the program, are a “small space of time to pour into it an entire ocean of fantasies and secret passions”.
Ruy Castro began his professional career as a reporter in 1967, in Rio de Janeiro, and worked in the main press outlets in Rio and São Paulo. In 1988, he began dedicating himself to books and made his debut as a writer in 1990, with the release of “No more longing: the history and stories of bossa nova“. In 2021, he was awarded the Machado de Assis prize, from the Brazilian Academy of Letters (ABL). The following year, he was elected to chair 13 of the ABL.
Heloisa Seixas worked at the newspaper The Globe and in 1995 she debuted as a writer, releasing a book of short stories called “Venus’s Comb: Stories of Haunted Love”. Companion of Ruy Castro, she is the author of novels, soap operas and plays. For seven years, she wrote the column Minimal Stories, node Brazilian newspaper.
