For the first time, Petrobras imported natural gas from the reservoir explored by the company in Cow Muerta, in the Neuquén Basin, northern Patagonia, Argentina. The operation was completed last Friday (3) and released by the state company on Monday (6). The volume, considered by Petrobras As a commercial and operational test, it reached 100 thousand cubic meters. This amount equals less than 5% of the production of the volume available to the national market by the state -owned company.

Import is part of an agreement by the Petrobras subsidiary in Argentina – Petrobras Operations SA (Posa) and Gas Bridge Trading, Pluspetrol Natural Gas, Argentine multinational.

Petrobras Operations has 33.6% non-operated participation in the Neuquén River field, located in the provinces of Rio Neuquén and Rio Negro.

Milestone

The state -owned company said that, by contract, it can import up to 2 million cubic meters of natural gas, in the interruptable modality. “New import operations will occur as companies identify business opportunities,” adds the Brazilian company.

In a press release, Petrobras’ energy transition and sustainability director Angélica Laureano classified the operation as a “relevant milestone” because of the integration of Petrobras infrastructure in Argentina with Brazil.

“This logistics and commercial solution opens a new possibility for the importation of natural gas throughout Brazil, reflecting Petrobras’ commitment to increased supply and sustainable development of the natural gas market.”

Increased supply

The test operation is further ahead to increase the supply of natural gas in Brazil and address a complaint from the industrial sector, which complains about the high price.

According to a study released in April by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), the fuel that arrives in the industry is Ten times the price of the American and twice the European.

Company President Magda Chambriard has already expressed the state’s effort to SHIP MORE GAS OF THE BRAZILIAN PREAL and lower the cost to the consumer industry.

Pre-salt hub

On Friday, the state-owned company started hiring the company that will build the P-91 platform, which will be the 12th destined for the field of Buzios, in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin.

THE Investment expects to consolidate Buzios as the largest producing field of Petrobras (For now is the Tupi field, also in the Santos Basin) and expand the relevance to the supply of natural gas in the country.

P-91, in addition to producing gas, will act as a hub (concentration point), that is, will be able to receive and drain gas produced on other field platforms that were not originally designed for fuel export.
The drained gas will be directed to the Boaventura Energy Complex (former Comperj) in Itaboraí, Rio de Janeiro Metropolitan Region, through the Route 3 pipeline.
