Confiep requests to prioritize the fight against crime before financing Petroperú

This Monday, October 6, dozens of transporters took to the streets to protest the Government’s inaction in the face of the growing wave of extortions and murders that affect workers in this sector, a recurring situation for which carriers They have come out to demand immediate measures.

Through a statement, Confiep has demanded that Dina Boluarte’s government focus its resources on combating crime instead of financing “bottomless barrels”, such as the Petroperú company.

“Instead of giving budgets to bottomless barrels like Petroperú, that money should be allocated to the National Police to implement improvements in their fight against crime,” said Jorge Zapata Ríos, president of the conglomerate.

Likewise, he warned that insecurity has become the main problem in our country, while its growth is linked to illegal economies, illegal mining, drug trafficking, logging, human trafficking and other crimes that are fueled by extortion.

“This requires a lot of intelligence, a lot of logistics and sufficient budgets so that the Police can train and act effectively against organized crime,” he added.

Zapata has highlighted the need to strengthen, in this context, the joint work of the National Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of the Interior.

“We cannot continue with confrontations between institutions when there is a common enemy that grows every day,” he stressed.

Finally, he warned that these illegal economies not only generate violence and death, but also seek to influence national politics, something that should not be allowed, urging citizens to be alert.
