The Colca canyon obtained the first place in the contest “????? ???????????? ????? ?????? at itb Berlin 2022” with the history of good practices of the Sibayo district in the Restart category and tourism recovery.
The district won the award thanks to the practices of rural and community tourism carried out by the inhabitants to show and teach daily activities to visitors, such as planting crops, making clothing with the characteristic crafts of the area, raising camelids, etc.
The award was announced today at a ceremony organized by Visit Portugal in coordination with GLP Films and the ITB in Berlin. For the organizers, the district of Sibayo found a sustainable way of implementing rural tourism.
Sibayo’s nomination was carried out by the Colca Autonomous Authority with the support of the Sibayo District Municipality. It should be remembered that in the Peru were 4 destinations that applied to this competition that each year seeks to recognize the stories of good practices.
