The head of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), Mario Delgado Carrillo, highlighted the incentives for the teaching base granted during the current administration, including the basification of almost one million teachers, a salary increase of 10 percent and the incorporation of an additional week of vacation.
Within the framework of the International Teacher Day (held yesterday), the official indicated that the teaching is the engine of educational transformation and recognized its commitment to students and communities.
He mentioned that the current government promotes public policies aimed at strengthening the training, professionalization and development of teachers, with the aim of providing better conditions for the exercise of their work.
Among the public policies highlighted the salary increase announced on May 15, of 9 percent retroactive to January this year and the additional one of last September, as well as the incorporation of an additional week of vacation, so the school year began the first day of the ninth month.
He informed that from October to March a survey will be carried out, school by school, throughout the country, with the purpose of jointly building the new program that will replace the unit of the system for the career of teachers and teachers (Usicamm).
The Secretary of Education explained that this exercise will allow to know the real needs of the teaching and design a more fair and transparent mechanism for labor mobility.
Regarding the strengthening of indigenous education, he said that specific actions were carried out with the participation of 23,895 teachers and managers, in addition to programs focused on gender perspective, inclusive education, peaceful and socio -emotional coexistence, which benefited 39 thousand 562 teachers.
In a statement, Delgado said that “behind each educational achievement there is a teacher or a teacher committed to her community. Our duty is to accompany them, listen to them and strengthen their task, because in their hands is the formation of future generations.”
