Inflation for lower-income households rises to 1% in February

Domestic consumption grows 3.04% in 2021, research shows

The National Consumer Price Index (INPC), which measures the variation in the shopping basket of families with an income of up to five times the minimum wage, registered inflation of 1% in February this year. The rate is higher than that observed in January (0.67%) and the highest for a month of February since 2015 (1.16%).Inflation for lower-income households rises to 1% in February

According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the INPC rate was slightly below that observed by the IPCA, which measures official inflation, and which registered a variation of 1.01%.

In 12 months, the INPC accumulates a rate of 10.80%, above the 10.54% registered by the IPCA.

In February, food products had inflation of 1.25%. The non-food items had a 0.92% rise in prices.
