Spain: Withdrawal of the ambassador is a “flight forward” for Ortega

Regime claims Spain for alleged "declarations" by the chancellor

The Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, considered this Friday that Nicaragua’s decision to withdraw its ambassador in Madrid is nothing more than “one more chapter of (Daniel) Ortega’s flight forward” and warned that the measure It will not prevent your country from continuing to demand the release of political prisoners.

Albares recalled that the Nicaraguan president he has a moral and political sanction from the international community”, which considers that the elections for which he renewed his mandate for the fifth time in November were “a mockery” and brought him “real sanctions”.

The Spanish minister responded like this, this Friday, when asked about the Nicaraguan government’s decision to withdraw its ambassador in Madrid, Carlos Midence, an issue on which he said that “if anyone believes that this measure is going to prevent Spain from claiming democracy and release of political prisoners in Nicaragua, is radically wrong”.

Midence, who was in charge of the diplomatic headquarters of the Central American country in Madrid since September 2016, was summoned yesterday by the Secretary of State for Ibero-America and the Caribbean and Spanish in the World, Juan Fernández Trigo, to express his discomfort at the refusal of the Ortega government to allow the return of the Spanish ambassador to Nicaragua.

A few hours after this meeting, the Nicaraguan Executive ordered the withdrawal of its ambassador to Spain from his duties due to “to the continuous pressures and threats of interference against him, that make the exercise of diplomatic work impossiblesaid.
