The Chancellor of the Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, held a telephone conversation with his pair of the Russian Federation, Serguéi Lavrov, where he presented the security situation in the Caribbean before the repeated threats by the US against Venezuela, and indicated that he received the full expression of support and solidarity of the Russian government, as well as his commitment to the preservation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone.
Within the framework of the presidency that the Russian nation exercises in the UN Security CouncilGil said that the repeated threats of United States political sectors (USA) “seek to justify a war display in our region, putting the stability of the continent at risk.”
“We agree on the importance of strengthening joint action within the UN framework, the Security Council and the group of friends in defense of the United Nations Charter, to guarantee respect for international law and the sovereignty of the peoples,” said the Minister for the Foreign Relations of Venezuela.
It should be noted that in recent days, Russia expressed concern about what the United States does around the waters of Venezuela, reiterating that the situation is really serious. “There are important naval forces there, including a nuclear submarine,” Lavrov added.
In the opinion of Lavrov, “the interception of vessels or fishing vessels and the aggressive actions of the United States generate a dangerous situation that violates international law, threatens regional peace and security.”
