Israel continues its offensive in Gaza despite Trump's call to cease attacks

Israel announced this Saturday, October 4 that it continues its operations in Ciudad de Gaza and warned the displaced people who do not return, despite Donald Trump’s call to stop “immediate” the bombings after Hamas accepted his peace plan.

The Palestinian Islamist movement declared Friday that he is willing to free Gaza’s hostages in the framework of the fire proposal of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, and this Saturday said he is ready to start negotiations to finalize the details.

Trump said he believes that the Islamist movement is ready for “a lasting peace” and called Israel to “immediately stop Gaza’s bombing” to be able to free hostages safely and quickly.

But the bombs continued to hit Gaza and the Civil Defense spokesman of the territory, Mahmud Basal, reported that “it was a very violent night, during which the Israeli army carried out dozens of air attacks and artillery shooting against Gaza City and other areas of the strip, despite the call of the president.”

The Israeli army said that its offensive continues in Ciudad de Gaza and called on the displaced population not to return. The Hostage and Disappeared Families Forum on Saturday asked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who “immediately start negotiations” to implement the plan and declared that it is “essential” to end the war immediately.

The Plan of the US President, which Netanyahu declared that he supports, contemplates a high fire, the release of the captives in 72 hours, the disarmament and exit of the power of Hamas and the gradual withdrawal of the Army of Israel de Gaza after almost two years of war.

Hamas declared Friday that he approves the release of all hostages, both the kidnapped who are still alive and those who died in captivity since the attack of October 7, 2023. But the Islamist movement requested “negotiations” about the details and this Saturday said that he is willing to start immediately the dialogue “to end all the issues.”

A high command of Hamas, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AFP That Egypt will host a conference for a dialogue between the different Palestinian factions to decide the future of Gaza when the war ends. Among the pending issues that Hamas did not mention are the demands of leaving the weapons and their withdrawal from the Palestinian territory after the war. Netanyahu’s office said that “in the light of Hamas’s response, Israel is preparing for the immediate implementation of the first phase of the Trump plan for the release of all hostages.”

“War planes did not stop”

The screams of joy in the Gaza Strip when Hamas’s response was announced little and during the night Israel threw dozens of bombings, the civil defense reported. The Baptist Hospital of Ciudad de Gaza declared in a statement this Saturday that received victims of an attack on a house in the Tufah neighborhood, four dead and several injured.

In Jan Yunis, Nasser Hospital reported that two children died and eight people were injured in a drone bombardment against a tent in a camp for displaced. Jamila Al Sayid, a resident of the Al Zeitun neighborhood in Gaza City, said “the bombings were intense during the night.”

“I was glad when Trump announced the ceasefire, but the war planes did not stop,” said the 24 -year -old woman.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, said that this is “a critical opportunity” to put an end to “slaughter and suffering in Gaza” and that humanitarian aid to the territory arrives, the release of hostages and numerous Palestinians detained is guaranteed.

The main mediators, Qatar and Egypt, and several Western powers also welcomed Hamas’s statements and hope they contribute to guaranteeing the end of the conflict. In the assault of Hamas of October 7, 2023, which unleashed the war, 1,219 people died, mostly civilians, according to a balance of the AFP based on official Israeli data.

The Israeli retaliation offensive killed at least 66,288 people, according to figures from the Ministry of Health of the Hamas Government, which the UN considers reliable.
