The lemon shortage that began in August due to the effects of climate change still impacts the pocket of Peruvians.
In Tumbes, according to RPP, producers report an increase in production, which went from one to five meshes of 46 kilos per hectare, but prices in wholesale markets follow up to S/ 150 per jacke.
In Piura, the situation is different: in the San Lorenzo Valley, the wholesale price fell up to 40 %, and the 50 kilos bag, which cost S/ 180, is now sold between S/ 90 and S/ 100. This decline is already reflected in some retail markets, where the quarter went from S/ 10 to S/ 3.
Disgust behavior shows that, despite the recovery, the normalization of the offer and the lemon prices will still take time.
