The president of the Commission of Parliamentary Ethics, Elvis Vergarareported a Peru21 that the debate in the plenary of three reports that recommend the suspension of congressmen Raúl Dorote José Jerí.
Speaking to this newspaper, the legislator said that on September 2, more than a month ago, he informed the senior officer of the Congress, Giovanni Forno, that “there are three processes that remain elevated to the Plenary of Congress.”
It is, as reported Peru21of the cases of congressmen Raúl Doroteo de Action Popular, Darwin Espinoza de Podemos Peru and María Agüero de Peru Libre, for whom sanctions that fluctuate between 60 and 120 days have been recommended.
The three reports were approved, he said, between February and May of this year. Despite the time elapsed, however, none of them have been included in the agenda of the Plenary of Congress for its debate and vote.
“The case of Congressman Doroteo is the oldest and dates of February, the most recent is that of María Agüero that is May. I understand that the board of directors, at the time of making the agendas for the plenary Act, “he said.
However, when they are warned that these are quite serious cases – in the case of Doroteo and Agüero for the cutting of salaries to their workers and in that of Espinoza for the use of public goods to collect signatures in favor of a personal political project -, the legislator for popular action pointed out that the current congressional directive would not have seen it in that way.
“This Board of Directors would not have seen it that way, at least in these two months that have just passed in their functions, the previous board has seen it that way much less,” he added, referring to the management of Eduardo Sallejuana from Alianza for Progress. “Obviously the degree of importance of the agenda merits it differently,” he continued.
In that line Vergara indicated that the issue “could have been omitted by a voluntary or involuntary error” before the president of Parliament.
“What I am going to do is talk to him personally to indicate that it is not true that we have not learned of these cases, we have done it and we have communicated it through a trade; that is what corresponds to me,” he said.
However, the president of Congress, José Jerí, refuted Vergara. “What he has said is that he has found those reports. This is not on the agenda of the Plenary Peru21. How much more will we have to wait then to sanction the ‘mochasuelo’ and ethical faults?
