Cicpc officials arrested two women in Sucre state who were previously denounced for cheating buyers and currency vendors. One of the detainees is identified as Karelis María Malavé Marcano (35), captured in the El Bosque urbanization, Valentín Valentín Valentín, Sucre Municipality (Cumaná), Sucre state, the Cicpc reported on its Instagram account.
The capture was carried out after the delegation received multiple complaints from citizens who were victims of this woman. Karelis cited his victims in the Altagracia parish, where they gave him the money in foreign currency. The scammer promised to make the equivalent payment in bolivars through a bank transfer, but never specified, appropriating money.
To date, five victims affected by this modus operandi have been identified. The other detainee is Carolina del Valle Díaz Fajardo (19), who was also arrested in Cumaná, El Bosque urbanization. It was determined that the modus operandi of the offender consisted of offering the sale of US dollars through the WhatsApp messaging application.
Once he received the payments in bolivars through bank transfers, he put excuses to the victims and did not deliver the money agreed.
